🔬✨ LEEMONS project update – from Grenoble to Konstanz: Milestones in the LEEMONS Nanostructuring Journey
Two key experimental campaigns completed this summer:
📍 In July at CEA-Leti (Grenoble), we carried out our first discontinuous ion implantation using hard masks. This milestone allowed us to successfully fabricate 10 µm-wide buried amorphised silicon layers, paving the way for the first passivation tests planned in October at CSEM (Switzerland).
📍 In September at ISC Konstanz (Germany), the focus was on belt oven calibration 🔥 and segmatter resistance testing. Using our new Datapaq Q-604106761 with multiple thermocouples, we ensured annealing homogeneity and repeatability. We also confirmed that our amorphised nanostructure (“segmatter”) withstands the new low-temperature metallisation process, validating the use of n-type Zebra IBC solar cells for the project⚡.
🛠️ At the same time, we launched the mesh mask fabrication scope:
🔹 Asada (Japan) – mesh manufacturing
🔹 EP Bidasoa (Spain) – aluminium frame & final assembly
🔹 Xitech Engineering (France) – holder fabrication & coating
This marks the first time such mesh masks will be used in ion implantation chambers, opening new possibilities for discontinuous ion implantion and controlled nanostructuring.
👉 We look forward to sharing more results soon – and to meeting you at EU PVSEC in Bilbao next week!
